Woodworking at Home for Beginners

Woodworking at home is one of my hobbies.  I started a new blog about woodworking at home for beginners. My first experience with woodworking began many years ago as a child.  After I got grown I decided to start woodworking again.  Boy, did I find out there was a lot to learn.

I have started this new blog in the hopes that I can assemble many answers to woodworking questions in one place.  I know I had to do quite a bit of searching in order to find what I was looking for.  I am also trying to keep some sort of chronological approach to it, so that the newest of people can start with the first post on kind of walk through some steps.

One of my first posts is on the types of tools that it takes to begin woodworking.  I suggest that people wait until they have found they have the “knack” for woodworking before going out and buying the largest, most expensive tools.  This post also talks about space requirements and safety.  People believe they have to have a very large space to begin with woodworking and this is false.

The most important aspect of woodworking is safety.  I know I have gotten my share of sawdust in my eyes.  I also shot my self with a air gun once.  Luckily on this occasion, the nail just bounced off of my knuckle.  I wasn’t being careful and watching what I was doing.  These days, I try to be a little more careful.

Like I said, I am going to try to make this something that beginners can follow.  I have made one post about where to find downloadable woodworking plans. I know for me finding plans in the beginning was always a headache because I wasn’t sure of where to get them online or what to search for.  All of that information is in that useful post.

At present, the next posts I am planning are on tool maintenance and more in-depth look at safety.   I enjoy woodworking at home, it’s my time for me to be alone and get out of myself.
